Sonra stands for many things but it literally means data … in Gaelic.
Well, being based in Dublin, it’s only fair that we took our name from the mother tongue.
Formed in 2015, our small team has a big reach.
We are led by founder and CEO, Uli Bethke, who is a veteran of the industry and has implemented dozens of data warehouse projects across four continents.
Over the years, we’ve assembled a team of advisors and data engineers to rival the industry’s most celebrated innovators, assisting everything from small data marts to large scale enterprises with multi-million-dollar budgets.

When you can’t get the answers from existing data solutions, sometimes you have to create your own.
Our industry-leading data conversion tool Flexter is a great example. The solution we needed for rapid data conversion was simply not out there—so we built it.

Uli Bethke,
CEO
Uli has been rocking the data world since 2001. As the CEO of Sonra, the data liberation company, he’s on a mission to set data free. A self-proclaimed data evangelist, Uli doesn’t just talk the talk—he writes the books, leads the communities, and takes the stage as a conference speaker.
Uli is a co-founder of DAMA Ireland, helping build a thriving community of data enthusiasts, and a proud Snowflake Data Superhero, leading the charge as the chapter lead of the Snowflake User Group Ireland.
Whether sharing insights, empowering others, or championing the coolest data tools, Uli makes data fun.
Growing up in Germany and making Ireland his home, Uli brings a global perspective to everything he does.
On the academic side, he holds degrees in political science from Freie Universität Berlin, Albert Ludwigs Universität Freiburg, and the University of Ulster, Coleraine, adding a unique interdisciplinary flair to his work.

Maciek is a data wizard with a knack for turning messy semi-structured formats like XML, JSON, and XSD into readable data.
With a brain wired for product and data architecture, Maciek makes the complex look effortless. A true architect of order in the chaos of data, Maciek is the magic ingredient to making sure your systems don’t just work—they shine.
Maciek is the CTO of Sonra and product lead for Flexter and FlowHigh. He has been shaping the data industry since 2000 with a visionary approach and leadership.
